  1.  THIS OUTLINE EXPLAINS HOW TO FIND OR REPLACE A TEXT STRING

  4.  A. TO FIND A TEXT STRING,
  5.     choose Find String from the Edit menu or use the Ctrl-F
  6.     quick key combination. This will bring up an Option Box with
  7.     three settings:
  8.  
  9.     1. Search For What String - enter any text string in here that
  10.        you would like to find. Use a "?" (question mark) to act as
  11.        a wildcard. If you entered "B?D", PC-OUTLINE would find
  12.        "BAD" or "BED" or "BCD" or "BZD".
  13.     2. Force Case To Be The Same - setting this to "Yes" causes
  14.     3. Search Scope - Setting this to "Only ON Entries" causes
  15.  
  16.  B. Position the cursor here and try to find the text string
  17.     "Again" by entering the letters in the Search For What
  18.     String setting.

  20.  C. Now choose Find Again from the Edit menu and see where the
  21.     cursor lands.

  23.  D. TO REPLACE ONE TEXT STRING WITH ANOTHER,
  24.     1. Search For What String - Behaves the same as in the Find
  25.        String function.
  26.     2. Replace With What String - Enter a string to replace with.
  27.        For example, if Search For What String were set to "Sad" and
  28.        Replace With What String were set to "Happy" then all
  29.        occurrences of "Sad" would be changed to "Happy".
  30.     3. Force Case To Be The Same - Behaves the same as in the Find
  31.        String function.
  32.     4. Search Scope - Behaves the same as in the Find String
  33.        function.
  34.     5. Ask Before Replacing - If this is set to "Yes", PC-OUTLINE
  35.        will prompt you at each occurrence before replacing.  If set
  36.        to "No", PC-OUTLINE will replace without prompting.
  37.     6. All Occurrences - If this is set to "Yes", PC-OUTLINE will
  38.        find all occurrences. If set to "No", then PC-OUTLINE wil
  39.        find just the first occurrence.

  41.  E.  Position the cursor here and replace the text string,
  42.     "PC-OUTLINE", with the string ">>  PC-OUTLINE  <<".  Just
  43.     enter the text into the Search For What String and Replace
  44.     With What String, and change the All Occurrences setting to
  45.     Yes.  You'll be prompted with a confirm box before each
  46.     replacement is made.
  47.
